THE FEMALE AND MALE IN DANCE: THE ORIGINS OF THE BALLET TO CONTEMPORARY

This paper aims to reflect on male and female dance scenic west, the origins of ballet to contemporary. The aim is to realize the transition moments in relation to sexual roles in contests and reciprocity in the stage shown, and sometimes beyond. Thus, the theoretical support of Cultural Studies was necessary in the study of dance as a cultural practice, including also as «texts» bodies in motion, increasing the understanding of coding styles of dance communicate and express representations associated with female and male.
